Say goodbye to Overdrive and welcome Libby!

Libby is the newer library reading app by Overdrive and will be completely replacing the Overdrive app, which has an expected end date of April 2023. Borrow e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines, and more from your Charles County Public Library for free!

Here are some of the features of Libby:

  • Read across devices: All your loans, notes, bookmarks, and reading progress sync across your devices
  • Offline access: Download ebooks and audiobooks for offline reading, or stream them to save space.
  • Listen in your car: Enjoy audiobooks in your car through Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or an Auxiliary or Bluetooth connection.
  • Send to Kindle: If you prefer reading on your Kindle, Libby can send your library books to it.

Libby makes it easy to customize how you read. You can adjust an e-book’s font size, layout, and lighting. As you read, you can also add bookmarks, create notes and highlights, and define words.

Libby also makes it simple to listen when, where, and how you want. Swipe on the book covers to skip backward or forward. Increase playback speed up to 3x. Set a sleep timer until the end of the chapter or for 5, 10, or 30 minutes.

You can browse for an item by Subject, Format, Availability, Target Audience, Language (English, Spanish, etc.), or “Read with…” Options (Libby, PDF editor, Kindle, etc). You can read the classics, bestsellers, magazines, and more without the need to return the items to the library, as returns are automatic.
