Imagine a place where there’s always a rainbow above your head.  Children across the nation are creating and discovering these places by crafting rainbows and placing them in windows, on sidewalks, and on driveways, bringing joy to children of all ages in a Rainbow Hunt.  Since most of us are spending so much more time at home, children are able to stay busy by crafting colorful rainbows and displaying them for other children to point-out as they get outside for some fresh air with their parents and caregivers.

Making a rainbow is easy and fun!  Use crayons, markers, and paper.  Use strips of pre-cut construction paper.  Use sidewalk chalk.  Use colorful tiles.  Use paint.  Just don’t forget your imagination as you take a journey to brightening someone’s day when they see your rainbow.

Ask neighbors to join-in on the fun and see just how many rainbows you can find.

After creating a colorful rainbow, wrack-up the Summer Reading points and read from the Rainbow Magic book series.  In each book, best friends Kristy Tate and Rachel Walker go on an adventure to help their fairy friends like Ruby the Red Fairy, Sunny the Yellow Fairy, Sky The Blue Fairy, and a host of others.

Take the kids on a trek “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by following Dorothy and friends down the yellow brick road to see The Wizard of Oz.

Sometimes there’s a leprechaun or a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.  In “The Day Henry Met…A Rainbow,” learn exactly how to find the pot of gold.  Go with Minnie Mouse and her clubhouse friends as Minnie uncovers how rainbows are made in Minnie’s Rainbow.
