Charles County Connected Devices Program

What is the Connected Devices Program?

The Connected Devices (MD-CDP) grant program is designed to assist in digital equity and inclusion efforts in Maryland. MD-CDP is intended to provide new, internet-enabled devices to families who are most in need. Qualifying households have an opportunity to receive one free Chromebook computer per address. Each address, beneficiary name, device identification, and other necessary data for device distribution and program reporting purposes will be received at the time of eligibility determination and prior to the distribution of the device. For more information about this program, please call 301-934-9305 or email CCACCYF-LMB@CharlesCountyMD.gov.

How to Qualify:

  • Must call 301-934-9305 to pre-register for one of the distribution events, schedule is linked below.
  • Must be a household with an income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines to qualify.
  • OR — Households participating in government assistance programs such as SNAP, WIC, Section-8, Medicaid, SSI, or others.
  • AND — Proof of Charles County, Maryland residence.

Only one device will be provided per household or address. Households that received a Chromebook during round one of this program from June-October are not eligible for this new round.

What is the distribution schedule?

The Charles County Department of Community Services will be operating three distributions of Connected Devices in January 2024. To ensure that there are enough devices, customers must call 301-934-9305 to pre-register for one of the distribution events. Spaces are limited, and registrations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. If your household received a device from this program previously, you are not eligible to receive a second one. For more information, interested individuals can visit the official website of Charles County at www.CharlesCountyMD.gov/government/departments/community-services. Applicants will need to bring appropriate documentation to verify their income or enrollment in another federal benefit program, as well as to confirm their Charles County residency.
