The Blue Dog
One of the most famous of the Charles County legends, the ghost of the blue dog, can be found along Rose Hill Road in Port Tobacco. You can read more about it right here.
The Goat Man
According to legend, there is a cryptid, a creature unknown to science, that lurks somewhere in Southern Maryland. It’s been seen in Bowie, in Accokeek, and even in Bryans Road right here in Charles County, down by Marshall Hall. It’s known simply as the Goat Man, and you should avoid it at all costs. It’s one of the most horrific monsters, in the form of half man and half goat. Here is the creepy story.
The Curse of Moll Dyer
In the St. Mary’s County town of Leonardtown, there is a very easily found rock that is known to be the cursed rock of Moll Dyer. Anyone who touches the rock is said to find bad fortune and sometimes dizziness and illness. Who was Moll Dyer? Learn more about her here.
Haunted Point Lookout Lighthouse
At the southern tip of St. Mary’s County is Point Lookout. A lonely lighthouse sits upon the rocks. But if you think the lighthouse is deserted, think again. It is said that there are multiple ghosts who reside within the structure. You can read more about it right here.
