The Charles County Public Library is continuing our special partnership with the Charles County Department of Recreation and Parks bringing even more RecPASSes to library users for free.

The RecPASS allows for unlimited visits to any drop-in programs at school-based community centers and pools, the Port Tobacco Recreation Center, Waldorf Senior and Recreational Center, and Elite Gymnastics and Recreation Center, and is typically available for a fee through Charles County Department of Recreation. However, through this partnership, RecPasses are now available to check out for free at each CCPL location starting February 2023.

For more information on RecPASS and other Charles County Department of Recreation and Parks services, facilities, and camps, visit www.CharlesCountyParks.com

And be sure to check out the latest issue of The Charles County Recreation and Parks The GUIDE, now available online. Inside, you will find seasonal special events, programs classes, league information and more!

These will be available at all CCPL locations, including the Mobile Library, starting February 9, 2023. Passes will be available on a first come, first served basis. There are now a total of 25 passes in the library collection.

Yes, but don’t worry, getting a library card is FREE! We have a few different types of cards available, so check out our Sign up for a Library Card page for more information.

A RecPASS checked out through the library is valid for three weeks starting the day of check out. It is not renewable, and will be deactivated after the 21-day check out period. Please return the RecPASS at the end of your loan period.

Please note, this program is based on funding availability and subject to end due to lack of funds. Want to make sure that doesn’t happen? Visit our Support CCPL page to learn how you could make a donation to support this program.

Yes, each RecPASS grants access for up to four people per pass.

The RecPASS allows for unlimited visits to any drop-in programs at school-based community centers and pools, the Port Tobacco Recreation Center, Waldorf Senior and Recreational Center, and Elite Gymnastics and Recreation Center. Drop-in programs currently include swimming admission, basketball, futsal, volleyball, pickleball, table tennis, and an exercise room. Program offerings may vary based on location. For a full list of drop-in programs, please visit Charles County Recreation and Parks.

RecPASS access is specific to the types of activities listed above and will not grant you admission to any Charles County Recreation sponsored summer camps, special events, sports leagues, and instructor-led classes.

No, but anyone who is using the RecPASS to access a drop-in program at a Recreation facility will need to sign a waiver before being allowed to enter the facility. In addition, children under the age of 18 must have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian prior to being allowed access to the facility. These waivers will be provided by Recreation Center staff upon check in. A waiver will need to be signed upon every visit unless you have a MyRec account. To create a MyRec account, please click here. All information is collected by Charles County Recreation and Parks.

Only adults 18+ can check out a RecPASS. Additional age-related guidelines may apply depending on the facility or program. Please contact the facility prior to arrival with any age-related and activity schedule questions.

While there are no overdue or late fines, there is a $10.00 replacement fee associated with each RecPASS that is lost or not returned.
