Explore the Story Trail at Pisgah Park!
Since March 2023, the Library has partnered with the Charles County Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism to bring a Story Trail to Charles County! Located at Pisgah Park, the ⅓-mile trail features pages from a specially selected story displayed on metal signs along the path. As you walk, you can enjoy both the story and the natural beauty of the park.
The Story Trail is a family-friendly, ⅓-mile section of the paved walking/fitness trail that combines literacy and outdoor exploration. Curated by the Mobile Outreach staff at Charles County Public Library, the trail features rotating stories throughout the year, encouraging families and friends to read together while enjoying time outside. It’s a great way to connect with both nature and storytelling!
The Story Trail is located along the paved walking/fitness trail in Pisgah Park.
The Story Trail is accessible during the normal operating hours of the park. The hours of operation and other park information can be found here on the Charles County Government website.
Yes! A new story is featured each quarter, so there’s always something fresh to enjoy. Each selection is thoughtfully chosen by our Mobile Outreach staff with a focus on engaging, family-friendly themes that encourage reading and exploration. Whether you’re a returning visitor or experiencing the trail for the first time, you’ll find something new to enjoy each season. We invite you to come back throughout the year to experience each new story in a beautiful outdoor setting.

The Story Trail is a special project in partnership with the Charles County Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism, and was funded by the Charles County Public Library Innovation Fund project. Every year, the library solicits ideas from staff for new ideas and services for the community, and the winners are voted on by the staff. The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism provided the location at Pisgah Park, as well as installed the signage for the Story Trail.
