Local Author Collection

Are you a local author?

Charles County Public Library welcomes local authors to submit their work for consideration for our Local Author Collection, found on the first floor of the Waldorf West Branch.

For the purposes of the collection, local authors are authors who live in:

Charles County
St. Mary’s County
Calvert County
Prince George’s County

Submission Guidelines

Local authors may donate one copy of their book for consideration for inclusion in the Local Author Collection.

Important: Donating a book does not guarantee that it will be added to the collection. Submitted materials are reviewed by library staff and must meet a minimum acceptable level of production quality. Learn more about CCPL’s collection guidelines.

AI-Created Materials

CCPL does not accept materials created wholly or with significant assistance from artificial intelligence, including AI-generated text, illustrations, or other content. Authors will be asked to disclose the use of artificial intelligence as part of the submission process

Ready to submit your book?

Your book donation can be accepted at any CCPL location and will be transferred to the Waldorf West Branch. You’ll be asked to complete the Local Author Submission Form alongside your donation, which can be found here:

What Happens After I Submit?

Library staff will review your submission to determine whether it is appropriate for the Local Author Collection. Accepted titles will be added to the Local Author Collection at the Waldorf West Branch as well as cataloged in the library system.

Please note that due to the high volume of submissions, authors may not be contacted. By signing the Local Author Submission Form, authors agree that their donation is unconditional, and, per the Collection Development Policy, the library reserves the right to dispose of gift materials not added to the collection as it sees fit.
