Attendees at Saturday’s zine making workshop, hosted at the Charles County Library Potomac branch, had tables full of arts supplies to choose from, including magazines, markers, colored pencils and scissors with different-shaped blades.
Instructor Mary DeMarco-Logue of Bryans Road demonstrated how to fold a piece of paper into eight panels and cut it down the middle to make the zine structure.
Zines, short for magazines, are books of various sizes meant to be copied and distributed. Some convey a political message while others focus on a specific topic or theme. Once a zine is complete, the original can be photo-copied for others to enjoy.
