Looking for a change of pace in the workplace? Is it time to switch careers? Going through a transition? We are here to help! This post will contain a comprehensive list of local resources, as well as ones provided to you by CCPL.
CCPL Resources
CCPL offers a bevy of resources and databases geared toward helping you develop skills and find a job that works for you. A larger list can be found at our Employment Resource Center that includes instructions on topics such as creating an email, interview tips, where to apply for jobs, and much more!
Here are some of the highlights:
One of the databases that CCPL offers is Peterson’s Test and Career Prep. It has a dedicated careers section that helps with everything from resume building to narrowing down what jobs might be best for you!
This next database, the Occupational Outlook Handbook, is intended to help you narrow down what jobs might fit your interests and skill set. This could ultimately end up assisting you in figuring out what kind of jobs you should apply for!
Another fan favorite is LinkedIn Learning! This is another service that is free to you with the use of your library card. Its catalog is very expansive and can offer instructions or courses on anything from tech savviness to management skills! Certain courses also offer certificates that look great on a resume!
Brainfuse HelpNow is an all-ages learning tool that is particularly helpful with job applications because of its Adult Learning Center. This feature offers live virtual resume/cover letter assistance with a professional! It also has an awesome Skill Surfer, which covers a super wide set of skills from life skills to citizenship!
A newer addition to our offerings is SkillMill by Interplay Learning! SkillMill is a virtual “hands-on” learning tool dedicated to providing instruction on a variety of trade work, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and more. You will be offered the option to use SkillMill on either a computer or a virtual reality headset. Feel free to pop into one of the demo day sessions, which are held at all branches. The dates and times of each session can be found here.
Lastly, did you know you can also request a One-on-One instructional session at any branch to receive help with things like creating a resume, using various job posting websites, and even applying for jobs? You can set up an appointment by calling or emailing your preferred branch. All contact information is shown below. Please know that appointment times are subject to branch and staff availability!
