National Still Need To Do Day

It is coming! The new year is almost upon us. I don’t know about you, but the last week of the year is the one week I always struggle to figure out what to do with myself. Things usually start to wind down, major work projects wrapped up, kids home from school with little to no work to do, and the new year looms. What to do, what to do…..

Did you know that there is actually a national Still Need To Do day? I had not heard of this before, but the more I read about it, the more I liked it. I enjoyed the idea of setting time aside after the bluster of the year to think about things I still needed to do for myself. To get them off my plate and out of my mind before the arrival of the new year.

The intent of this holiday is not to make you feel poorly about tasks you may not have been able to do, but to prioritize you and your needs. It does not necessitate that you finish the tasks right away, but emphasizes taking the first step (it is always the hardest). You can get yourself started with small tasks that will help you feel accomplished or maybe even foster teamwork with family, friends, or coworkers. Is there a lightbulb that needs changing? A call or appointment you need to make?

Here are some library resources you could use to help you with your tasks!

Digital Resources

Workbooks

The library actually has a fairly extensive collection of workbooks. They cover a large range of topics from crafting to computer software to personal growth! A personal notebook is recommended, as library materials can not be written in. Check out our selection here to take a look!

Regardless of whether or not you choose to participate in this holiday, it is ALWAYS important to look back on the year and reflect. To take a look at all of the amazing things you’ve made it through. Be sure to give yourself credit for the wonderful things you’ve done, both big and small!

Consider inspiring others to do the same by sharing your journey with friends or family!  Sometimes all it takes is a nudge to help someone take their leap to success!
