Cool Snake Facts

  • Snakes are found on all areas of the world except the north and south poles, even in the water.
  • They don’t have any arms or legs, so that means they move by wriggling their bodies back and forth (what we call slithering)
  • Snakes are cold blooded which means they don’t generate their own heat
  • There are over 2500 kinds of snakes ranging from really long (32 ft) to really short (4 inches) and everywhere in between
  • They shed their skin
  • They smell with their tongues
  • Some use venom to paralyze their dinner, others constrict around their dinner and cut off its air supply.
