The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Set in the same world as the Inheritance Games trilogy, brothers Grayson and Jameson Hawthorne are on opposite sides of the globe, both taking part in a high-stakes game to protect their family once again. Solving puzzles, engaging in steamy romances, and giving us more of the characters we love, The Brothers Hawthorne is a must-read for fans of the series.

Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross

If you love the enemies-to-lovers trope, and epic fantasy settings, Divine Rivals might be for you. As a journalist, Iris and her arch-rival Roman are vying for the columnist spot at their paper, when a war breaks out between two gods (yikes!). Iris is desperate to keep her crumbling family together, and begins to write letters to her brother, away at the front lines of the war… letters that end up in the hands of her rival. A rival who can’t help himself but secretly write back.

Solitaire by Alice Oseman

As Alice Oseman’s first ever book– written when she herself was just 17– Solitaire finally, finally had a release in the US this year. Featuring Charlie’s older sister Tori, this precursor to the Heartstopper series follows Tori’s last year of secondary school. She has a lot on her plate; dealing with A-Levels, her family, her own mental health, and the prank group that’s cropped up at her school calling themselves “Solitaire”.

One Of Us Is Back by Karen M McManus

This is the third book in the One of Us Is Lying series. It’s been nearly two years since Simon’s death, and the Bayview Crew is back together for the summer at long last. But when one of them disappears, and the ‘game’ begins, everyone feels like they might be the next target. So when they find out someone unexpected is back in town, who knows what might happen?

The Black Queen by Jumatta Emill

If you liked One Of Us Is Back and are looking for another good read, this one might be for you. Nova Albright was going to be crowned the first black homecoming queen at Lovett High, but on the night of her coronation, Nova turned up dead. Nova’s best friend Duchess is determined to unveil Nova’s killer, and in doing so must get close to the rich, white, popular princess of Lovett High— Tinsley McArthur. Trying to solve Nova’s murder, both girls dive deep into the mystery for very different reasons, and have to deal with the realities of race, privilege, and the horrifying reality in which they live.

Kill Joy by Holly Jackson

This novella from the Good Girls Guide to Murder universe invites you to the murder mystery party of the year! When Pippa’s friend throws a make-believe murder mystery party set in the 1920’s, set on the island of ‘Joy’, it takes a while for Pippa to get into the spirit as a detective. But as she unravels the clues set out from this fictional murder, she can’t help but be drawn in. It’s low-stakes (since the murder victim isn’t really dead, you know?) but still an awesome mystery to unravel along with Pip and her friends.

Miles Morales: Suspended by Jason Renolds

Miles used his Spider super-powers to save the world, and his reward? In-school suspension. But something at school isn’t right. He can just sense it. A day that started with a boring, endless stretch of detention turns into something sinister as Miles faces off against…. A termite? A termite that could quite possibly erase the history of the world? Miles’ powers as Spiderman might just come in handy again.

Oseman’s on the charts for a second time, unsurprisingly– this time with a new novella from the Heartstopper series. Nick and Charlie have a new challenge ahead of them. Nick’s headed off for University at the end of the summer, while Charlie stays behind. Charlie’s happy Nick can start to pursue his dreams, but will their love survive the LDR?

Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli

Imogen prides herself on being an awesome queer ally. She might be straight as pin herself, but she loves and cheers for her two best friends and their queer community at any chance she gets. But when one of Imogen’s closest friends, Lili, starts telling all her new college friends about how she and Imogen totally used to date, Imogen starts to wonder if that wouldn’t be such a bad thing. After all, her other best friend, Tessa, is pretty cute…

Part of the Cruel Prince world, Suren has escaped the world of the fae and her life as a child-queen to wander the human world, alone. But when her past catches up to her, and she’s saved by the prince she once knew, Suren and Oak make a bargain. She will aid him in the quest to find his father, and he will help return Suren to the life she has longed for. But what will it cost for her to confront her past, her icy mother, and the heir to Elfhame’s untrustworthy heart?
