I will give you two different options to make your superhero mask. The first one will be using a paper plate. The second will be using a template you can print out. Both are simple and lots of fun!!!

What you will need:

  • Paper plate or Printer/paper (Optional: construction paper or felt)

  • Scissors

  • Decorating Materials

  • String

Paper Plate Mask

Step 1: Forming the mask

Fold the paper plate in half then cut on the middle line. Both sides can be used to make a mask!!!

Step 2: Creating the Nose

Fold one side in half and create a small crease in the middle. Using the line in the middle, draw two lines forming a triangle. Then cut out the triangle. This will create the nose.

Step 3: Making the eye’s

On each side draw a football shape for your eye. Then fold over where the eye is and use your scissors to create a small slit so you can cut out the rest of the eye.

Step 4: Decorate!!!!!

Flip your mask over so the curve is facing down and decorate it however you like. You can use crayons, markers, watercolor, paint and whatever fun craft stuff you can find.

Step 5: Add the string

On each end of the mask you will want to add a hole so you can attach the string. You can use a hole punch or use the same method we used for the eye. Fold the edge and make a small cut to form a hole. Be careful not to cut off the edge. Then add a piece of string to each end and you are ready to become a superhero.

Mask Using Template

Step 2: Cutout template

Cut on the black line of the template. For the eyes you will fold the page and the mask in half and make little slits where the eyes are.

Step 3: Trace

If you would like to use a different kind of paper or felt you can trace your cutout on the material you would like. Next cut it out or you can just use the original template and skip this step.

Step 4: Decorate!!!!

Flip your mask over so the curve is facing down and decorate it however you like. You can use crayons, markers, watercolor, paint and whatever fun craft stuff you can find.

Step 5: Add the string

On each end of the mask you will want to add a hole so you can attach the string. You can use a hole punch or use the same method we used for the eye and fold the edge and make a small cut to form a hole. Be careful not to cut off the edge. Then add a piece of string to each end and you are ready to become a superhero.
