Tween Comic Club is a place for comic lovers ages 9-14 to discuss what they are reading each month. Here is the latest list of the books we’ve been talking about and that our tween readers recommend! Doctor Who: The Girl Who Loved Doctor Who by Paul Cornell and Jimmy Broxton
This special issue celebrating the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who sees the Doctor flung into our universe, where he meets a twelve-year-old girl who is a fan of his show. The Doctor must figure out how to deal with being a fictional character while also fighting monsters.
The Doctor says: “The TARDIS gets transported to our universe and the 11th Doctor meets a girl who is a big fan of the Doctor Who TV show. The 11th Doctor himself even ends up meeting Matt Smith, the actor of the 11th Doctor. Things are very timey-wimey.”

Hopefully you, unlike our main hero, will only find the beauty that you are missing, and not aliens. But, if you do find aliens, this book should also serve as a guidebook to defeating them. Also, there are some great pointers at the end, if you do unplug and find yourself questioning why you did such a thing. Lastly, when you are finished reading this book, please flip to the very last page…it’s not over!”
Shuri: Wakanda Forever by Nnedi Okorafor and Vita Ayala

Determined to find out what happened to her brother, Shuri teams up with a host of other superheroes, including Groot, Rocket, and Storm!

As the Ancient Future, she will travel into space and across the globe to defend her country, but in her own way. A powerful story full of action and adventure, that also sympathetically explores what it means to find one’s own path. A must-read for fans of Shuri, as well as anyone who loves a thrilling superhero story.”
City of Secrets by Victoria Ying
