Tween Comic Club is a place for comic lovers ages 9-14 to discuss what they are reading each month. Here is the latest list of the books we’ve been talking about and that our tween readers recommend! The Legend of Wonder Woman by Renae De Liz and Ray Dillon
This nine-issue mini series tells the origin story of Wonder Woman. Diana grows up on the island of Themyscira, where her mother hopes she will live a peaceful life. But when a pilot washes up on their shores, Diana follows him to Earth, where she finds herself in the middle of WWII.
Skylan B. says: “This book feels like a movie. It is so cool. The artwork is very clear and vivid, and I like the characters and their personalities. For example, Etta Candy has a bright personality, but Diana is kind of reserved. I recommend this book to all ages!”
Green Lantern Alliance by Minhe Le, et al
Tai Pham only recently inherited his Green Lantern ring from his ba and defeated Xander Griffin. But a series of fires in Coast City looks like it could be the work of Xander. Can Tai balance his superhero responsibilities with his responsibilities at school and the store? He might need the help of a new hero–Kid Flash!
Mr. Jude says: “Green Lantern Alliance is a great sequel to the original. The dialogue and art are perfected to be like an in-continuity DC superhero book. It’s great to see characters who were forgotten or erased make a comeback.”
Miles Morales: Stranger Tides by Justin A. Reynolds & Pablo Leon
Just as Miles is settling into his role as Spider Man, he discovers that players of a popular new video game are being frozen in the game. A villain named the Stranger is behind the plot, and he has deemed humanity unworthy to live.

Ms. Faith says: “I love books about overachieving cats. It makes me laugh and it’s super cute. I also like cat books that focus on the human’s incompetencies and why they need their cat heroes to save the day. This book has it all, and a rocket ship built by a cat!”
Smile by Raina Telgemeier
Middle school is hard enough with first crushes and friendship drama, but then Raina trips and hurts her front teeth. Now she has to wear an embarrassing series of headgear! Join Raina as she goes on a journey to find herself and a way to feel comfortable just the way she is.
London T. says: “I really like the way the author writes the illustrations in the book. The plot of this book is about a girl who breaks her two front teeth and needs to get braces and how she overcomes her fear of smiling. I think that this book can compare a lot to Guts.”
Tidesong by Wendy Xu
Sophie longs to attend the Royal Academy of Magic–a school known for molding powerful and important witches. However, first she is invited to live with her grandmother and her aunt to learn how to control their family’s weather magic. But Sophie is full of doubts about her abilities and, in a fit of anger and frustration, she endangers her life and entangles her magic with that of a sea dragon. The dragon is now stuck in the shape of a human. Can Sophie figure out how to disentangle her magic before an international dragon/human incident erupts?
